You can try to idolize this man as much as the emptiness in you calls for, as much as that deep and welling insecurity that gnaws at you constantly fools you into believing that there must certainly be some truth to his trials, but you will find that the abyss stares back with an infinity that will consume and break you. Don't waste your time.

I've spent a lot longer actually studying Crowley's work, it's context and symbolism to know what it's about.

Satanists like LaVey claimed influence of Crowley (due to his transgressive qualities) but that is not indicative whatsoever of the content of Crowley's work.

Crowley took from Western Occultism (Hermeticism, Gnosticism, Christian Esotericism and Jewish Kabbalah), Eastern religion (Hinduism especially, which I'll get back to, Taoism, Buddhism etc). Crowley's system of Thelema is not Satanism, it's more like a rehash of Hinduism. The Universal consciousness is God, Man is a perceive being conscious. God has a Will and we have an individual Will. Our purpose in life is to fulfill it, as it evolves the universe.

General: "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law" "Love Is The Law, Love Under Will" "Every Man And Every Woman Is A Star" God: "Since I am Infinite Space, and the Infinite Stars thereof"

The Book Of The Law is not a literal text, it's cryptic. There has been a whole century of study of the text, yet you conspiracy theorists can't even put in ten minutes time to research it.

The OTO itself is full of leftists, Thelema is a libertarian-leaning religion.

Crowley has a lot of myth/lore surrounding him but no proof to back up much of it. The Book Of The Law was received by an angel (Aiwass), make of it what you will but many Thelemites themselves don't even believe it, they lean towards the New Age concept of the "higher self", rather than the supernatural.

Crowley is an enigma and a joy-ride for you conspiracy theorists but there really isn't much tangible evidence to support most of your claims. And yes, he was a Freemason for a brief time and ascended up the grades very quickly, which cased much suspicion among Masons. Nowadays, Masons themselves deny the authenticity of his grades and don't consider him to ever have been a valid Mason (since he got a special treatment which would never be allowed in other lodges).

Back to Thelema/The Book of The Law: What do Thelemites believe?

It varies from person to person (on a subjective scale) but - three manifestations of God: Nuit - The Universe, or Universal Principle Hadit - The soul, perceiver, the atom Heru-ra-ha - The image of God, the sun Will - Our purpose in life The Aeon Of Horus - That we are in a new time-period of massive change in every aspect of life
