Because of contamination? How long does a virus survive on a container? How long does it take for a ship to go from China to Australia? This panic makes people more sick than a virus could ever do.
Almost everything affordable comes from China, or a nearby country. It's not all useless crap.
It's unlikely American wages are going to drop to pennies per day, and pollution standards thrown out the window, so prices for all that stuff will skyrocket.
Until we start making it here, which is the only way out of this clusterfuck. Most of our “service” jobs here are sham jobs that create no wealth. Everything we need is made in china except maybe food . Thats bad cause they are undercutting us - the only winners are the investment class (professional usurers)—they dont make anything either. More manufacturing here means higher wages so we can pay for more expensive products. We are not winning the import export game. Its fucking us up the ass.
We used to make great products— appliances that lasted 20years or more. Now they last 18months!
Well that depends but many people are cured by chemo and live for years and years cancer free. I think you’re missing the point. The medicine for our economy is a healthy dose of isolationism, it will cause a restructure that will be painful.
I was saying this exact thing to my friends. Isolationism is the only sure fire way to reset properly. Even then there will be traitors/spies within, but shutting the doors on globalism is the right move. What does the U.S have to buy from foreign countries that they are not capable of producing here?

We can again, but the readjustment period will be a bitch.

Yeah chemotherapy sucks too, but dying of cancer is worse.

Not really, that's a lie. Cancer takes it coarse and you may deteriorate rapidly and die. Chemo prolongs a half-life of agony and then you die anyway.
