Drop the rules already! What don't people understand about Freedom? Q is not for Quisling!

That rule is in place to protect Voat from spammers, which has been a problem since Day 1

How does it do that - where does it explain the whys and wherefors - I really want to get to the bottom of this, now - your's is probably the first explanation of the rule, so thanks. Thinking for myself and questioning authority.

Spammers used to created subverses for their bot armies and make senseless posts, upvoting each other to look like legitmate users. So a 30 day rule was put into account for subverse creation. It didn't matter, as spammers already had established accounts here, though it did stop brand new entities for a limited time. Some of these bot armies would massively downvoat people.

So minimum CCP requirements were also put into place that aren't too restrictive to new users. If the spammers can't make new posts to earn CCP for their bots, they can't hide as easily. If spammers need 100 CPP to downvote, they can't harass other users as effectively.

This doesn't stop the ones who have an effective foothold here, though they are few in number as they get weeded out, but it does make it much harder for the newer ones.
