Some of us are professionals. Some of us are retired. Some of us are just learning. Some of us just play because we enjoy it.
This is your thread - and it's not just for guitarists. I don't care if you play a kazoo. I want to hear it. I will listen to every submission of personally created work - and, if history is any predictor, other people will too.
So, grab your phone and guitar and record us something. Or, if you can do better recording that that, do so!
If you don't play and want to, ask questions. If you want more information, ask questions. If you want resources, ask questions.

Fuck it I'll share.
This is another original one by me. No singing on this one. My singing sucks.
Let me know what you think.
TheBuddha ago
Nice! It starts off a bit like Pink Floyd, goes towards old Metallica, then at about 2:20, kicks it into some serious 70s metal, while finishing like the Eagles.
Fantastic and a lovely share. Hmm... Do you read tab?
crazy_eyes ago
Yeah. Tab is simple to read
TheBuddha ago
Excellent, I recommend Hey You by Pink Floyd. I think your playing style is suited to the song.
TheBuddha ago
I am, at least, still here.
TheBuddha ago
Come on people...

I'm not scared, I'll keep posting until I get tired. I have a ton of stuff already done. Yeah... I'll do it, too. I kinda like sharing and if nobody else will, I'll do it all by myself.

Maybe everyone's watching the Trump rally tonight.

Here, you'll like this.

Tab by some Eric fella, as I recall. Yes, that's not actually a classical guitar but a big ol' D28 from Martin, strung in brass and steel. Yes, I use it as a percussion instrument sometimes. No cares. I'm a bit passionate when I'm playing something I like and I really get into it.
If I can share my work, everybody else can too! ;-)
TheBuddha ago
I dunno? I put down some Ozzy. No love, just votes. I don't do it for the votes. I do it for the sharing. I'll upload another one.
heygeorge ago
Put down is the proper term. Fingertaps et al!
TheBuddha ago
LOL Yeah, I sometimes tickle the strings. Just a touch, just a touch.
Sometimes, I wail on 'em hard enough for them to snap with a loud spronging noise and it's usually when I'm being just a bit too passionate. You learn to rely on amplification when you perform, but it's damned fun when you're just playing and not worried about how other people will respond. I can restring a guitar pretty quickly, if needed. I only had the chance to play with bands that had an actual guitar tech a few times. That was always a treat.
heygeorge ago
Haha, yeah, it can be fun to really dig in. Its been long enough since I've broken a string that I hesitate to even bring it up.
Outside techs can be a wonderful thing. I learned a lot of tricks from techs and I can be fast as lightning when required.
TheBuddha ago
Yeah, I get aggressive when playing for myself. I can't remember the last time I did it while performing.
Some techs know their shit. I've done some fill ins with more active bands who had great techs. Most of my gigs actually involved me lugging and setting up. Man, I've played some shitty gigs.
heygeorge ago
Haha, I've played just about every sort, from dive bar to birthday party to club to coffee house to massive festival and many more in between. And yeah, some of them were super shitty.
TheBuddha ago
I will never play another wedding. Ever...
heygeorge ago
Hehe DJ'ing them is better than playing 'em. And that is also horrible.
TheBuddha ago
Oh, the stories I could tell...
I've done some wakes, too. Those are better than weddings.
heygeorge ago
Haha, I could imagine that would be a better time. That is a gig I have yet to play.
TheBuddha ago
I was also in a drum and bugle corps, marching band, and stage band. Yeah...
heygeorge ago
Haha, I very briefly marched with a DCA corps on tenor drums. And otherwise did marching band, stage band, was in a local orchestra, in a local municipal band, jazz/fusion band, pep band... Lol, I haven't thought about much of that in a long time. Also was in a handful of choirs.
TheBuddha ago
I will sing. I get compliments. I am not a good vocalist. I know good vocalists. I am not one. I can harmonize and have some control, but I lack power and projection. My range isn't terrible, and I do a pretty good drunken falsetto. I wouldn't pay to hear me sing. No, no I would not.
I did drop a few more tracks in the thread, but it looks dead this weekend. Meh... I'll still keep making the threads. ;-)
heygeorge ago
I have very strong vocal power and maybe a unique tone, but nobody good ever accuses me of being good at anything mainstream. My range is not 100% compatible with pop music. Very seasonally appropriate, but think You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.
My range isn't really that limited, but I am out of practice lately, so it sort of depends on how I'm feeling that evening.
Please do continue the threads. Friday is a tough night for me to participate, but if it becomes habitual, I will start getting some things together during the week to share.
TheBuddha ago
The plan is for me to pay attention to the threads for 48 hours, or so. Not constantly, of course. I suspect it will grow over time.

I'll even get you started:
This is a fun song to play and there's always a smile on my face when I have an excuse to dig out a Les Paul. I think you'll like this one.
You may want to turn it up. ;-)

(Yes, that's all guitar and effects. You should see my face while I play this. Especially the intro.)
