Welcome to the reality of the sixth great mass extinction, human caused. Even two hundred years ago the skies of eastern North America would be blacked out for weeks with migrating birds. We've changed this world so much with such little understanding to our effect, and we're driving this faster than ever now while our most advanced nations deny the most basic biological facts. Despite our cleverness and tools, we remain stubbornly impulsive fools, unable to escape the tragedy of our existence.

By all outward appearances, food is about to become really fuckin scarce. If you dont want to die looking like a spooky, spooky skeleton, Id start storing food soon.

Lol@ storing food. Good way to become a target. It's a much better strategy to get comfortable with harvesting, cooking, and eating bugs and cacti now.

Its_Just_A_Ride ago

Hey, Im not one to knock eating bugs, but some canning supplies and a basement closet and Id be amazed if anyone knew to come looking. So long as you keep your mouth shut around the neighbors anyway.

I think it that if you are going to store food and try to hole up, your only hope is knitting your community tight now and practicing solid contingency plans. Have you read Only by Blood and Suffering by Lavoy Finicum? It's the most accurate post apocalypse portrayal that I've read or seen so far and it's an excellent case for dropping as much dependence upon civilization as possible as soon as possible.

Monsanto, Bayer, Syngenta, and DuPont hate insects. They are killing them off at a frightening rate. We're letting them.

Warning of 'ecological Armageddon' after dramatic plunge in insect numbers | Environment | The Guardian

'The new data was gathered in nature reserves across Germany but has implications for all landscapes dominated by agriculture, the researchers said. '

'The abundance of flying insects has plunged by three-quarters over the past 25 years, according to a new study that has shocked scientists. '

'Special tents called malaise traps were used to capture more than 1,500 samples of all flying insects at 63 different nature reserves. '

'While most insects do fly, it may be that those that don’t, leave nature reserves less often and are faring better. '

'But the new research captured all flying insects, including wasps and flies which are rarely studied, making it a much stronger indicator of decline. '

This has been an automated message.

Flying insects are on the decline... Let's put up traps to kill more.
