What is Russia's equivalent? Full-size AK?

This is a great and thoughtful recounting on this gun. No, I don't want one, never have but it does give you the rationale behind.

One other issue USAF survival gun, the M4 also in .22 Hornet -

thank you sir

i love those single shot bolt actions

clamhurt_legbeard ago

and with the new gau5a the air force is closer to this than the m6 nowadays

robot7247 ago

Way better gun than the Bushmaster too. I almost bought one years back but the flip-flop magazine is odd. That's how you brace it to fire.

Nadeshda ago

Wow, I had no idea, what an interesting read. Are you allowed to carry your own personal weapons on flight?

clamhurt_legbeard ago

ive never asked

Nadeshda ago

This is the correct answer! :)

ExpertShitposter ago

i was pretty close!

clamhurt_legbeard ago

you put it in writing to try and give deniability

theyre specifically told not to use this on people so clearly he was hunting a rabbit when that enemy soldier jumped in the way

Drkadrka ago

I've wanted one for years. Always seemed like a good gun to throw in your hiking pack, just in case. Although in this day and age I don't go out without an AR, so the utility value is down a bit, but the M6 is still a gun I've lusted over for years.

clamhurt_legbeard ago

dude i love these utilitarian bare bones guns

i want some stripped down single shot 22

beefartist ago

Henry makes a "survival" rifle that is just 22lr, Ruger may even as well? They still aren't as stripped down as this bad boy though and I don't think I have seen a dual bore gun that folds up

clamhurt_legbeard ago

ya chiappa makes a couple guns like this that fold up

the henry gun is meant to store in its own buttstock rather than fold

slower but it floats and is more protected

ruger has a takedown 10/22 that breaks in half very quickly but still has a normal stock

I’m constantly amazed at the effort put into creating a tool intended for the narrowest range of military scenarios, namely, surviving a plane crash in desolation and isolation for a prolonged duration...just looking at it in the air probably made the pilots want to knock on wood

clamhurt_legbeard ago

true but honestly how much money was spent vs how much does it cost to train literally an entire bomber crew

if it saves even one crew

lol

Excellent read as per usual. This is the first GCL where I never heard of the gun before.

I think a few places still make similar guns today, savage and chiappa that I can recall off hand. Neat things. I kind of want one but not enough to actually buy and commit any of my safe space.

clamhurt_legbeard ago

dude its wafer thin lol

ya its a very neat utilitarian gun

chiappa definitely makes a version
