This (new, experimental) bot highlights when a submission or comment is permalinked from elsewhere in Voat. I figure if someone is talking about my post then I want to know about it. And it should discourage brigading.
But I can see downsides too - if you want to be sure ths bot doesn't notify the OP, add a query(?) to the end of the permalink url. That won't affect its parsing/resolution by your browser or by Voat, but it will break the bot algorithm and it won't post the notification.
I'll post a test post linking here now to illustrate how it works.
Comments, questions, suggestions, objections welcome.

Why the hell should I have to go out of my way to add a slash to a comment link in order to prevent this bot from adding noise to voat?

I'm not really sure how to answer that. On balance the bot seems to be popular. Most people don't seem to care that their cross-links are notified to the OP - if you really don't want the OP to know you're cross-linking them, I've provided a simple and reasonably easy method to hide it from them. You are welcome to block @SearchVoatBot and other Voat bots if you don't want to see their posts.

Since you've been annoying on voat for years, I know that you realize that blocking doesn't truly hide everything.
I don't give a fuck that you notify the OP. I care that you are adding useless comments to voat. Putt likes you, so I won't win. I think you (and all bots) are terrible. Look what happened to plebbit. It's a slippery slope.

Fair enough. I certainly support increasing the effectiveness of blocking.
