Reminds me of David Thorne's unapologetic seriousness in amusement. But what is his purpose?

What exactly about free speech is tested?

• Is it exercised?
• Is it protected?
• Is it censored?

By what means is the test administered?

• Hazing - newfags
• Calling out - shills
• Hitting nerves - SJWs

What does a passing score look like?

• Newfags – keep it real
• Shills – prove it all wrong
• SJWs – don’t get mad, bro

What does a failing score look like?

• Newfags – take it personal
• Shills – can’t prove their claims
• SJWs – get emotional and worse

Why is this test even important?

Newfags:

When I was new I was hazed, too… as it should be. We know narcs (whether it be david brock or Monsanto or whomever) would love to instantly secure a position of acceptance within the community of voat, in the hopes of more effective social engineering against the community. We also know how difficult it is for narcs to infiltrate a group who expect them and are ready to test them.

If we don’t test their abilities to protect free speech from the start, we lose the advantage in identifying them (and they gain a foothold in securing the coveted “community trust”). These individuals remind me of the undercover cops who roamed the parking areas and circulated the crowds before gates opened for the Grateful Dead shows.

There were two kinds:

1. the (obvious) salesman - walks thru crowd saying spaced out things like, “Shroomy... Lucy… Mary….” In hopes of entrapping the unwitting in illegal purchase of controlled substance charges. If this type is taken at face value without being adequately hazed, the end result is typically followed by a coordinated raid at a (slightly) later point in time, by someone other than the obvious salesman; or,
2. the (ineffective) infiltrator – attempts to blend but gives off various frequencies of the Sketchy vibe (which registers on the spidey sense of the group collective). If not adequately hazed and exposed, this type of narc hopes to transplant himself into the group in order to either uncover, facilitate or initiate an illegal purchase of controlled substances by the group. This type often leads the subsequent raid.

If either of these two types fail the hazing, they are immediately exposed by calling them out as narcs and then vehemently ostracizing them to the point they are completely exposed, and thus forced to remove themselves from the area. With Dead shows often hosting massive gatherings of various groups, these narcs have the opportunity to move to a different area of the venue and re-attempt their con. Moving from “new dude” status to “narc” status is the equivalent on voat of moving from newfag status to shill status.

Shills and SJWs:

In the simplest division, there are two types of shills: Paid shills and volunteer shills. Paid shills are consciously aware of their shillin’ for shekels job description, and carry it out according to the protocols set by their employers. Available pre-packaged (it’s their job to shill), or purchased off the rack (sold soul to get hired to shill).

The paid shills are often trained at infiltration, and should their newfag hazing be insufficient, they are trained to embed themselves and maintain their manufactured persona€. Volunteer shills, on the other hand, are unaware they are shilling for anything. This can be the result of various causes, most of which can be distilled into, “gaining acceptance from others, particularly from those who themselves have already attained high levels of acceptance in the community”.

Volunteer shills are those who passed the hazing test (because they’re willing to keep it real enough), but who fail the shill test because they resort to shill tactics (knowingly or unknowingly) in attempts to make a case. These volunteers are often oblivious of the “go along to get along” approach they take within the community, which in turn makes the volunteers vulnerable to shill tactics themselves, more likely to increase shill tactics in their own communications, and – in the most unfortunate scenarios – become unwittingly converted to shilldom through a series of false-confirmation events (naturally, these are perpetrated by the paid shills).

The paid shill is almost always a lost cause (though I’ve heard tell that some have defected, confessed and are now living free), whereas the volunteer shill is worth attempting (once or twice) to liberate. While the liberated volunteer may not have the vestal beginnings their free speech colleagues have, they do have unique expertise in being former volunteer shills – which ultimately makes them exceptionally qualified at liberating other volunteer shills, because they have been through the trial by fire, and did not perish.

If we fail to test the purity of intentions among ourselves, we fail the original spirit of voat, entirely.

Shitposting, [serious], casual, lulz…. all reasons to exercise free speech on voat are seen as equal in the eyes of goats who are good. Good goats are free goats, all are as one, unified in sincerity that above all, we shall not be silenced, no matter how unpopular our speech may be.

Reminds me of Biblical trials by fire

• Goats – not sheeple, who fall prey to wolves in goats’ clothing, who struggle daily against shills they’ll never convert, who wander interweb pasture unguarded from harm.
• Goats – whose eyes are opened to the plight of free speech in all its beautiful, brutal, inglorious honesty – no matter what the cost.
• Goats – who love Truth over Self, who sacrifice the worldly possessions of CCP, SCP - and indeed username reputation – in order to take up the burden of protecting the free speech of the flock.
• Goats – whose submissions are hunted by wolves (paid shills) and whose comments are robbed by jackals (volunteer shills); whose reputations are held for ransom against the price of absolute truth (exposing subversion).
• Goats – who have walked in the fiery furnace and stood strong their ground against that flaming sword of purification; who have been through that trial by fire, and emerged unbroken.

Sane, himself, is that trial by fire. That abyss from which those who would seek to harm the freedom to freely speak, cannot return. He’s exactly what voat needs to stay pure.

Yes, he calls out shills of both varieties. Yes he calls out the establishment and tests them in the same fiery furnace. Isn’t this how freedom should be – where all are equal, and all are equally tested?

And who better to lead the charge and patrol the borders than our very own resident equalizer – a goat whose loyalties can neither be persuaded nor purchased; a goat whose greatest hope is that you pass the brutal test he administers you; and, a goat whose possessions and reputation have been crucified by misunderstanding and bias from within the flock, and by malicious calculation and subversion from without.

True and good goats of voat, if you are unsure, abandon all preconceptions and consider what he says he is here to do. Read through his history, consider what he has already done here. Observe his consistent and dogmatic loyalty, refusing always to infringe on other goats’ liberty to freely speak. And, witness the unfounded and relentless campaign to silence his ability to purify and guard the flock.

Shills – please note: Sane is one user with one account. But those of us who see his authenticity of character and respect his statement of purpose, are many. And growing. Expect us.

We will not stand fearfully by and watch one of our own be dragged off to the slaughter, without exercising our full unified efforts to rescue the sacrifice from your teeth. If you continue to allow the unethical downvoat brigades to which we all have been witness, it will backfire, and instead of one strong goat, you will be forced to contend with hundreds of strong goats who stand in his place. Just tell your boss you had to let the dark goat rise, because without his resurrection you would be forced to lose grasp entirely on the platform.
