I kept digging into all of this until I discovered that bit of understanding. It truly makes life easier to understand, and for some reason a touch less dark. If I can believe that the people killing children and drinking their blood are doing it because they are actually infested by demons that require it in order to keep presence in the "drivers seat" of experiencing flesh "delights" in exchange for power, I can deal with that a lot easier than people who are doing it just because. The level of evil to do things to your own kind just for extended youth is beyond comprehension; but a being from a separate dimension consuming them is different. They're not human, they're pure evil incarnate.
It leaves a lot of hope for the potential repentance of human kind. It also makes it more reasonable that God would forgive people who do things we think are absolutely unforgivable. If a person is infested by demons put into him from a young age, he has no idea until he has some kind of intervention and casts them out of his body and accepts Jesus Christ instead. It is like that movie, Fallen.
