That's what your assuming. Here's the only mention, I saw, of Israel in the article:

Everyone talks about the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war as a huge victory for the militia, but the reality is that the Israelis had let their training lapse.

The prime minister was talked into trying to win with air power alone, and Israeli intelligence had no idea that Hezbollah had acquired antitank guided missiles.

I may not agree with everything in that thread. But no where in the article did it portray Israel as one of the good guys. It just portrays Suleimani as the bad guy who wasn't all that great of a fighter. I don't think Suleimani's role was limited to just that of good vs bad. It, IMHO, was conflict and control, which is what the thread seems to also get at and I seem to agree with.
