Mithras shares many similarities with Christianity

There were many secret societies all with different standards and initiations and focus of study. When Christianity became the prevailing religion they were disbanded or forced into further secrecy. Freemasons are a hodgepodge of all the knowledge from pagan rituals and secret societies. My assumption is it’s more tied to Pythagorean school with its prominent use of the compass and square.
