Steve Setzer founded Strategic Moves in 2002 after a successful aviation career in the United States Marines. Steve flew AH-1W Cobras from 1987 to 1992 during which time he served in operation Desert Storm, earning an air medal for heroism in combat. His subsequent tour was in the prestigious Marine Helicopter Squadron One, flying Marine One for President Clinton from 1993 to 1997. He served in both the Operations and the Maintenance Departments in the squadron and was designated as a Check Pilot, authorized to return the President’s helicopter to service after maintenance.

After his tour with the Marines, Steve flew the Pilatus PC-12 for a Charlotte area company where he learned the value of Business Aviation. He is type rated in several aircraft including the Gulfstream G-150 and G280 business jets. As President of Strategic Moves, he trains owner-pilots for their transition to larger, more complex aircraft, and under his leadership, the company has provided services to more than 50 aircraft owners in their management, acquisition and operation of turboprops and jets.
