As the Epstein case seems to be coming back into the news, I just wanted to throw in my two cents worth as a guy who's had first-hand experience in a Federal SHU block. Yeah, it's me, the guy who did 7 months in a Fed joint in Pennsylvania a number of years ago for tax evasion. When I first arrived I was placed in the SHU (Special Housing Unit), presumably because you had to wait for for a bed in general population, but I honestly think they wanted everyone to get a taste for the SHU so you'd play by the rules and not end up back in there. It sucked, tiny cell with a bunk bed, a little steel table bolted to the wall with a swing-out stool beneath it, and a steel toilet/sink/water fountain combination unit. No privacy, you had to sit there and take a shit in front of your cellie, flushing the toilet repeatedly so you didn't stink up the place too bad.

Now, as far as guards sleeping on the job? VERY unlikely...no one sleeps in the SHU...it's loud as fuck 24 hours a day. Guys that have been in there for long periods of time yell and scream all night long, they punch and kick the cell doors, it's like an insane asylum. Guards don't have a soundproofed little room to hide in, there's no cozy little couch to curl up on and take a nap, typically the guard station is a little kiosk right in the middle of all this noise and chaos. Granted, I was in Pennsylvania, but I'm guessing MCC Manhattan. would probably have been even worse. My co-defendant did 6 months there and said the place was a living hell. Worst part? The guards, 90% inner-city blacks who hated white inmates with a passion...they probably weren't terribly fond of a billionaire Jewish pedophile.

I don't know for certain what happened to Epstein, but the story about two guards taking simultaneous 4 hour naps is utter bullshit. I just don't understand why Barr dismissed this as a suicide so quickly without all the facts being in. If there's anyone in the world who knows what happened to Epstein, it's those two guards...and someone needs to make them talk.
