kek, i use ublock origin and routinely eliminate the sidebars and floating menus of sites that i am only reading because it was linked there. in fact some of my primary sites, i've removed elements of as well, to reduce distractions. (concussions suck)

I feel for you. I use the addblock plus add-in for firefox and it is eliminated.
