Agree with you, patriot. New, bold or unwelcome truths and knowledge is easier to realize and keep access to if you share it with someone who also mainly understands. Also, my dumb ideas are pointed out and I get to practice not being as much of an asshole before I go out in pubic. (error intended)

I'm an asshole here on Voat and I've had people be assholes to me, as well. It's helped me develop a thick skin and let things roll off my back. I'm thankful for it.

But then again, it's all behind a computer screen and not real names attached. Take that for what it's worth because it's just the internet.

The one thing about this environment is that each post and comment mainly stands alone. One time I had a lovely compliment that someone wished it wasn't "anonymous" to see more of my comments. I felt the tug, the temptation to fame and following. There is no reputation but that's good if I am taking more chances with putting ideas out there.

I disagree. Many of us have other "social media" accounts, even if just other blogs. And, many of those share what is learned and discussed here, at them.
