One charity I've found that isn't like that is called feed my starving children. I've volunteered with them before, something like 99% of the money donated goes directly towards buying food, and they're almost entirely run by volunteer labor. It's pretty awesome.
It’s kids around the world - the criteria is they have to meet a threashild of below poverty. They are bringing Jesus to the kids so I call it a win, especially with the spiritual war raging around us.
