Greenland is really bizarre. The glaciation on it is more southern, which doesn't make much sense. Iceland is clearer of ice at a more northern latitude than portions of Greenland.
Okay well maybe the size of it. Except once a landmass is large enough you get continental weather systems. So how is a lot of Canada, Alaska, Russia, Norway, Sweden, etc. not just buried by glaciers?
How is Greenland one massive glacier, but Siberia isn't? Have you ever experienced a Siberian wind in winter? You'd think the fucking frost giants are invading.
only speaking about the natural process of glaciation, not anything specific about Greenland and any tech there... mountains are an integral part of most glacier formation, and it's the snow compacting into ice and pushing down the slope that gives us glaciers. if there's no significant snow on one side of a mountain range, there won't be significant glaciation on that side.
I know, but the centre of Greenland is below sea level.
I'd expect it more either on the windward or leeward side of the mountains, especially considering the west side gets bombarded by systems out of the gulf of Mexico.
I just find it really weird the entire continent is a blob of ice, when it's a horseshoe shaped mountain range more open in the north. It's like it was designed.
