It's a weird movie all his movie are weird, Space Odyssey an alien engineering mankind, Dr Strangelove general freaks out about shit in the water and triggers a path to nuclear holocaust, Eye Wide Shut seems most of his movies deal with the madness and mysterious they are all very very different but have similar dark themes.
I think the subject Kubrick keeps returning to is the supposed ingenuity of man to engineer a technology, a plan or some solution to social ills that appears foolproof. But there's always a glitch in the system or solution, often because the engineers are ignornant of the spiritual condition of mankind and the depravities that are potentiated through their notions of "progress".
Well when you go back and watch Eyes Wide Shut, take a good look at the daughter of the costume maker...I think maybe he's pointing at Satanic Pedos who manipulate everyone around them with money and sex. I think you'll find the same thing in the Shining with all the people at the Overlook--4 Presidents, lots of movie stars...Royalty? All the BEST? people... I think the ingenuity of man starts with freedom and truth--take those away, and you'll end up in North Korea or the USSR.

So weird, last night I watched The Shining. Check out these lines...
After discussing "The Donner Party" (cannibals) in front of their son, Shelley Duvall's char gets upset.
Jack Nicholson gets this line: "See, it's ok. he saw it on the Television."
The owner of the Overlook Hotel says, We had 4 Presidents, lots of movie stars. Shelley Duvall says,
"Royalty?" The guy smiles and says, "All the best people." Later on in the movie, there's a scene I never
noticed. It's a guy in a dog costume seemingly performing oral sex on one of the ghosts in the tuxes. All
the best people huh.....ooook....
While Shelley is racing her son to the maze she says, "Loser has to keep America clean."
Shelley is one UGLY woman. In the scene where Jack is breaking through the bathroom door
with an axe, it almost seemed like the monster was hiding from HIM rather than the monster
going after the helpless woman....who then...cuts his hand. Technically, he never hurts her, but
she hits him with a bat multiple times and then cuts his hand with a knife.
