Actually the statement "Using hooktube changes nothing" is technically correct although it might be more accurate to say "You're watching youtube by proxy" because the hooktube link above is making requests directly to youtube.com for video info and the script that controls playback. It is also fetching video/mp4 content from googlevideo.com. This is easily verifiable using the browser's dev tools.

I don't know what the common reasoning is in using hooktube but I can say this, if your goal is to try and hide from google, hooktube isn't it. Have fun.
