President Trump announced Sunday he has nominated Ratcliffe to replace the outgoing DNI Dan Coats.
The president wrote on Twitter that Coats will step down on August 15th and an acting director for the agency will be “named shortly” as Ratcliffe awaits confirmation.
EXACTLY. Mitchell could have gone in recess -- but then it would not been as easy for Trump to have an acting director. This was, Acting Director gets many weeks to do deep cleaning at DNI. The brilliance of this is several fold -- one, being that the longer it takes for the Senate to confirm Ratcliff, the more time the Acting Director has to do deep cleaning.
Mitchell either did this intentionally or not -- he should still get some credit.
