I don't really personally think anyone has any less of a soul than another. Some choose good, some choose bad, as much as I wish they wouldn't. But without the bad I wouldn't have ever learned as much as I have about all of the good in the world.
I think what you're describing is a lack of choosing either selfishness or selflessness. It sounds like depression. They don't love themselves at all and therefore don't find themselves really worthy or capable of loving anyone or anything else either.
Even if you are selfless you have to care about yourself somewhat, or else you couldn't properly help others.
Edit: I would like to add that having depression is a chance to learn about love as well, learning about a lack of it.Learning how to love again after not being able to, etc.

The ones here who occasionally open up about who they are say they don't have any love inside them at all. They then sigh and say "but what can you do?" These are mostly women who say this. As for the rest of them, they are cruel and indifferent to anyone's suffering and will never help anyone without some sort of reward.
I believe some people have titanic and truly great souls and others have not much at all.
I can't say I agree that the saying that you have to love yourself before you can love others, people can love you despite yourself

Hmmm interesting! Something I’ve thought about for a long time. Over the years I decided it was to love. Love in all circumstances— something I can’t say I’ve achieved but still a goal. I like your idea. That’s much bigger than love. It really ties to everything. If you think you’re doing soul work then the day to day looses its power because it’s the big picture you are improving.
