It's what I couldn't figure about his work, either he is an outsider exposing the deeper layers of corruption and esoteric occultism in dream state narratives, or he's a part of it and rubbing it in the public's face while playing the enchanter.
Right there with you on that. For some reason, as weird and dark as he is, I always got the feeling he was trying to pull back the curtain just a bit so the rest of us could get a glimpse of what is really going on.
