“The Matrix” - especially the first part - is a well told version of the “hero’s journey”, a classic motive that explains the necessity for inner transformation as part of personal growth. In essence it is about becoming the fully embodied unique individual that you are in God.

Confrontation of doubts, unconscious/ covered/ not yet revealed trauma and mental as well as somatic paralysis by fear (being hypnotized by danger/ deer in the head lights) ...

challenging and overcoming that fear lead to (re-)integration, self-actualization, personal freedom, sovereignty, embodiment, ...

Jesus Christ is a paragon for the fully embodied human being. And his “hero’s journey” is depicted in the Bible. Buddha is another. Also with his journey. A fictional example is Herakles/ Hercules.

The “hero’s journey” itself cannot be corrupted by Satan since “faking confronting your fears” won’t lead you anywhere.

You either face your fears. Or you don’t. If you don’t (your choice) you will remain dependent on groups. Jesus transcended his fears and was liberated and realized his eternal essence as his true nature.

That’s the essence behind “The Truth will set you free”.

Sure, it looks like Jesuits clothing. Just proof that you can run around like Jesus for decades but you won’t make it until you dig yourself in and confront yourself.
