i'm extremely skeptical of this - it seems like it might be a distraction honestly. from what, i'm not sure. thus far they have raised about 12k USD, 11k of which is from a single source. only around 10 people have bought in so far. you can view all the transactions/donations to their bitcoin address easily. also, I noticed that at some point yesterday, there was an odd transaction originating from that address. all but 1 of the transactions were incoming, i.e. people paying. there was one single transaction for just under $600 going out, which indicates somebody withdrew some of the money, and did so extremely sloppily.
That's certainly a possibility as now whoever is associated with that btc address (the address that received the shady withdrawal I described above), is also associated with "The Dark Overlord". It could definitely be an attempt to smear somebody, that's a very good point that I hadn't considered.
