I have never actually clicked any of his links. Don't find anything he posts interesting. Still, would be nice to know his side of the story. He had been posting here for years with no complaints.

I DM'd TREDDITFIRST 10 months ago because they used to post mostly all twatter links. Didn't get much of a response, they said after I sent a second DM:

You will be alright.

Since then they have switched to the chatango links, which do embed, my main concern. As far as I know unless I click on the image it doesn't log my IP since the image is embedded in the site.

This has been on my radar though.

Screenshot of my DM's (read from bottom up) edited to include the only reply I ever got. At least I got a reply, MagnusVeritas never once replied.

Maybe someone can chime in and let me know if I am right or wrong about IP address not being logged with embeds. My understanding was Voat acts like an intermediary.

Also, hope I am not breaking any site rules by sharing DM's.

We do store IP addresses of all incoming connections to Chatango servers. This information is only stored for network security purposes such as preventing spam, denial of service attacks or intrusion. When a user sends a message to a Chatango Group, the IP address of the sender is recorded and displayed to the group owner and to the group moderators created by the group owner, so that the group owner and moderators can ban the sender from the group.
