Introduction

These past few months have been quite hectic for v/ProtectVoat. We have been criticised of being a weaponized sub that has tried to impose itself to other subs, both public and private. To be honest with you I do understand where that complain comes from and we also understand the limitations that we have to act upon scenarios that we try to denounce, such like power moderation.

Nonetheless, I did vowed that this sub approach will change and expressed my commitment in doing so. Which is why I am doing this post as one of the first steps we will take towards becoming an informative sub with the aim of keeping the population informed about dictatorial subs, new trends used by trolls and shills to disrupt the community and suspicious behavior that needs to be reported. Leaving the Voat's user base to deal with those things the best way that they see fit.

Regarding v/DeterrenceDispensed

I have noticed several recent post are denouncing one of the newest subs here after they were banned from Reddit or like I like to call it RedShit.I have taken my time to check the activity of the sub including the current removed posts and comments from said sub.

The sub's current owner/moderator is u/JStark1809. I have approached the user privately to have a conversation with him and explain to him the radical reaction from Voaters when dealing with people that comes from Reddit. However I do understand his displeasure of dealing with our inmune system.

Some of the posts deletions he has done do not seem unreasonable to me as they can be considered as forum sliding that is preventing the current subscribers of his subverse to look for the ones relevant to their work and how they can get the 3D models they want to print.

Obviously Voat stands by the fact that the subs shouldn't be used for profiteering and the content of the sub shouldn't be spamming their website and such, as the user agreement specifies. But the sub has a right to be here as it was censored from a different platform that is preventing people to have access to 3D printing guns.

The denunciations that the users have done here, though understandable also, need to have a little tolerance on the subs' position. I do give the benefit of the doubt to it's current moderator and extend him the advise, both privately and publicly, that comments shouldn't be deleted even if they content offensive words. However I also advised the user to make an specific rule about Pornographic content, specially material promoting pedophilia much like the comments done by u/FromTelAvivWithLove - https://voat.co/v/DeterrenceDispensed/about/log/comment

This user is an owner of the v/BEATLESTROLLARMY that is known to be conformed by several u/zyklon_b alts. I have consulted privately with other users and we all think that this is also an alt of this unscrupulous user that in his agenda to ignite a fire on Voat hurt the platform with his actions. He denied in the past to be the one sharing pornographic material, including loli, on the subverse v/QVR. Yet this alleged alt of his shows of what he is capable of.

According to u/MadWorld, u/zyklon_b has also engaged in what I can only describe as upvote farming/vote manipulation: https://voat.co/v/VoatThugs/3286115/19259781 and I quote:

Conclusion

u/JStark1809, please pardon any misunderstanding. Please make rules that can only be interpreted literally and enforced effectively and objectively to defend your sub from trolls.

To Voat's user base and subscribers of v/ProtectVoat, please try to make your denunciations in the proper form with detailed evidence and avoid making duplicate posts about them. If one is already existing please share the information on the one that previously existed in order for us to gather more information and that is easier for the rest of us to find all relevant information.
