v/ProtectVoat Edit: I had originally posted this to v/whatever and someone said I ought to post it here. It was pointed out that my assumption that @andrew_Jackson is not the original poster of the What i missed on Voat, however I feel that my post still raises some good questions, and my confusion as to the OP of the "What I missed on Voat" posts only reinforces my concerns. Thank you.
Edit: I am sorry, but I swear I saw @andrew_jackson as the original poster for the What you missed episodes. Let me dig in deeper to see where I got that information. Still, don't let that invalidate the questions at hand.
Edit 2: I deleted my original post, sorry for the duplication, because I thought I was being mislead by the great 1's and 0's of voat. I don't think i am. @andrew_jackson is posting to the v/bestofvoat and @virge is to v/whatever with a 1 hour time difference.
Ah Voat, the best place to test your bullshit filter. I know you have seen the recent "What you missed" episodes on Voat, and all in all, I've enjoyed them. A great distillation on lesser known posts from the v/all and v/new pages, often several pages deep in less then popular subversives. It's a great idea as not everyone spends every waking moment on Voat searching into the deep dark buried pages of the great /All and /New, but still gives us the opportunity to see what conversations or information that we are missing. However, I noticed a posting by @virge which had a glaring addition to the posts @andrew_jackson had created. Namely the BTC and various other bitcoin address for donations. Now, I myself am not overly against e-begging, I think some Kickstarts and GoFundYourselves have generated some great products in the past. But, it raises some questions about this site and its tolerance for that sort of thing. The three posts by @verge, which contains the BTC donation block, are simply copy-pasta by @andrew_jackson, as well as the only three posts by that account. Thus, I ask my fellow goats:
In the name of free speech, should we allow a scammer to post scams to this site? Even if it is not a scam, would this site be better if every post ended in a BTC donation code? Is @virge merely trying to gather funds to increase the racial diversity of Israel and bring its walls down? Does he/she/it have an ulterior motive?
If this is all fine and dandy, then let me propose this. Here is a BTC donation code.
BTC: qpwxd6ejald70jz8249fumvfgfc9h2erzv66q9y96c
I have some skills in the way of Music/CGI/Game Development/Writing. I would love to dev in those areas for my fellow goats. At least I'm upfront with what type of things I'm willing to do for you guys, not just some, I suspect, Nigerian Scammer. If this is the type of ending to quality posts that you want to see in the regular for the future, then OK. If not, well then we should have a discussion on how to avoid it in the future.
Finally, obviously i mentioned @NosebergShekelman. Any donations given, He/She/It will receive half. I mean, a quality poster like that should get at least 40% of what is given due to the quality comments. If not more! Like 20%... yeah, you know the joke.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at. I find it hilarious that so many people are offended by adding a crypto address to the end of content when it was more than one user who asked me if they could send crypto, so to make it easy I just added the addresses.
What's your complaint, exactly? It's not making sense to me, and I'm not going to curate my content for your safespace preferences if you just don't understand crypto, are offended by it, or have an irrational fear of it. I'm saving myself precious moments of life by not answering PM's or responding to submission comments asking for a crypto address.
I quite genuinely don't give a shit what you feel about that and it isn't hurting anyone so neither should you.
P.S. Someone sent me 500 Ripple within half an hour of last nights post, so they obviously thought my time was worth something to them. That's how crypto works.

Yeah, honestly I ought to have reached out to you first to find out what was going on. It does indeed seem that you are the OP of these posts, so my bad. I had seen the v/bestof posts first, and had not come across yours until recently. It just seemed really odd that your account had only the 3 posts attached to it and no other site activity, so that sent my alarm bells going. Would you prefer that I take down the posts here, or do you agree with the legitimacy of the questions that it poses?

It's your life. You don't need my blessing for anything. I think the answer to your confusion would be gained by hovering your mouse over my username and reading the bio text, however.
If you do that and then still have legitimate questions remaining, please let me know because I think we've cleared them all up.

Very cool. In that case, I've deleted the v/whatever post as I don't mean to send unnecessary flack against you, though I will keep this post open on v/protectvoat as I think it does have some good questions in regards to scam proofing Voat. Though, to be fair, if you have crypto you probably have the wherewithal to avoid a Nigerian Scammer. Thanks for conversation and I look forward to your WYMOV episodes in the future!

I think he is referring to the posting of donation links and addresses in general, not this specific case anymore.
