Answer me this. How does removing access to comment history stop people from requesting comment pages that don't exist?

As I understand it, before they cut off access, when you made a request for some high page number that didn't exist, the software would go through a huge pile of content, looking for the start of the page, only to find that what you're requesting doesn't exist, which could slow things down. Since they have removed access, when you request a page above 19, it doesn't do any real work, and just redirects you to a 404 error page instead.

I could be misunderstanding though.

If your CT end up being true, for which I highly doubt, then there will be another exodus, and I don't think that's what admins want.

The simple truth is that @THC broke sub rules to push a personal agenda. The admins have every right to revoke his mod privileges, if they did. For all I know he could have demodded himself to cause drama.

Putt commented in the /v/voatdev thread. It isn't being ignored. Admins claim it was necessary to prevent DDOS attacks. Sure, they haven't been the most transparent with recent changes, but they're busy.

I think when there is an issue that involves the operation of Voat and/or the admins, it needs to be hammered out via PM or some other channel outside a post that is intended to stir the ranks... THC could have handled it better.

A user complained and an admin de-modded him, then he connected the two and decided they must be related. After all, no self respecting admin would ever de-mod someone for spamming their own sub, right? Must have been cynabuns.

Cynabuns seems to be a mod in News and AskVoat, which is what that message is probably referring to. I doubt they have some kind of shadow ability to delete stuff from other subs, or demod people.

Yea I dunno about it being a videos thing. If you remember back the the videos problems last month they werent to happy with all the videos mods so maybe this was the last straw. If you get told by the head of the sub to unsticky something, and you refuse, then it's pretty obvious you're going to get demodded. What else are they going to do? Ask you to unsticky it again.

the obvious solution: make /v/ideos and build it up to spite /v/videos the numbers are small so the way voat grows and builds itself is still well within our ability to control add it to the list with the henrycorp alternatives
