How is it justified? How can this possibly be a way to have a valid conversation? I know there are people that will post garbage comments, and it should be left to the users to downvote, not the moderators to remove.
Even if every removed comment was honest spam or vitriol, it would be better to keep it there and let users know that the moderators are not trying to hide information.

However easy to find with a quick scan of the pages. Posters want to know if Obama & Hillary et al can be tried for Treason. Don't think there's a statue of limitations.
