I didn’t mind the black dude in Tenet. It didn’t seem like the normal diversity BS; it felt more like Nolan held an open casting call and went with whoever he liked. It is kind of odd in the opening scene, but other than that, it’s a fucking non-issue in the movie. Not a single SJW idea in sight.
Tenet didn’t make money because a) people are scared they’re going to start bleeding from their eyeballs if they leave their homes right now, and b) it’s a Nolan sci-fi movie not based on a comic book. I liked it, thought the plot was actually pretty linear, but it’s the kind of thing that will only appeal to people who are super into science fiction and like the genre’s “deep cuts.” Doesn’t surprise me at all. More accessible sci-fi films like Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion, Primer, etc, have always flopped.
Black fatigue? Yeah, you know what I’m sick of? Black women with “natural” hair in commercials. Little black girls with “natural” hair in commercials. I live in the South and am convinced this skinny black woman with natural hair is the Hollywood equivalent of a lipstick lesbian; they just don’t exist outside of the TV screen. It’s not a style that appeals to black women, so why is it there? Because it makes suburban white women feel good about themselves, as they go on Instagram and lecture us about how a black woman “having” to straighten her hair is racist.

I said this openly when my son was in living room with wife watching tv. During commercial, I said count the black people in advertisements even though they rep 13% of population and in “poverty” why do companies target them so much? Also count the white girls with nigger husband ads vs anything else. It’s obvious to them now.
I grew up in a place that was heavily affected by the riots of the late 1960's. I attended a public school system that experienced a lot of racial discord and my schools were about 30% black. One of the effects of that unrest was that the teachers and administrators pretty much let the black students have their own way when it came to planning school social events or requesting music for the choir to learn and perform. We lived with a non-stop stream of Motown music. I experienced that same fatigue you are experiencing. By the time I went off to college I felt like I never wanted to hear another one of those songs for the rest of my life. To this day, my husband knows to skip over them when we use his playlist in the car.
