That would work if food was really an issue. The reality is this and other complaints are designed to subvert native national identity. We see it happen everywhere. White food is bad, white holidays are bad, white hobbies are bad, white sports are bad, white historical monuments are bad, white music is bad, white hobbies is bad, etc.
Really, anything to demoralize a population by destroying everything that connects them to their national identity. I used to think it was a USA exclusive thing, but this place has demonstrated that it has been around for quite some time in one form or another and continues to be utilized when occupying a nation
