I fully accept that "British" can be used in two senses: one describing belonging to a people and another describing being from a place. Rudyard Kipling who never would have denied his on Britishness still described himself and "Indian."
The problem is that Progressives have decided that "British" only describes a place and "Chinese" (and also "Indian") only describes a people, and they enforce this new and inconsistent way of speaking by attacking anyone who doesn't use these words in the manner they have approved.
I know Asian people who get fiercely offended when accused of being Chinese aka from the country China. But they also understand that they are indeed Chinese, if they’re from the same gene pool.
Either way, it’s ridiculous to separate them entirely.
Regardless, the nationality of someone should be based on their origins. Even if it means their ancestors origins in the case where someone is displaced (like the nigger in the example - he was botn in Britain, but his origins are from Africa)
