The Safeway in question has been there since the early 1900's. Safeway bought out another company which had 69 locations...this being one of them. Safeway then incorporated in MD in 1986.

This is another misdirected lead...

I'm hearing and even seen some evidence that it did exist prior to 1986. I think that they probably reincorporated or something, so that specific entity only began in 1986.

I know for a fact I shopped at a Safeway where I live prior to 1986, but that is in a whole other state, of course.
