So our vote doesnt matter. The police can stop us for literally no reason. They can confiscate our shit for literally no reason. Cops are armed with MRAPs, M4s and black body armor, making them better armed than the average us soldier. Oh and the whole mass surveillance, TSA, HSA bullshit too. At what point do we realize we are living in a police state?

Not to be a dick - but at what point are you going to do something about it?

Your country/leaders want to rule the world - and it's affecting everybody around you. If you feel helpless - imagine how we feel as outsiders, as we watch you shit all over international law - and we can't do a damn thing about it.

I am. Im educating the rest of the muppets who are clueless. I still have it good. I make more than the average household in my state, and live in a very nice house. I thought just maybe the people who can't afford a mortgage and groceries might do something first. But right now, they seem very content living off the hard work of everyone else. As an outsider, I don't think you realize how bad most people in this country have it. But many of them are way too lazy to work, so doing something about it is probably too much work for them as well. Its a very fair question to ask and you are not being a dick. If I were a betting man, I feel that some shit may go down around November. There have been some pretty decent protests in DC over the Colorado election, or lack there of.

We've been living in it a long time my friend. Been saying it for years.

OcculusResurrectio ago

I believe you. I know its been brought up years ago, but its so glaringly obvious now that I dont know how anyone could deny it.

And it's only going to get worse if a large number of people don't decide they've had enough and start protesting and fighting back. Think I read someplace it only takes about 3% of a population to pull off a revolution?

EngelbertHumperdinck ago

I'm pretty sure that figure is referring to the US revolutionary war. A random 3% may have been enough back then, but now things are different. Now days, its easier to kill a million people than it is to control them. Just ask Zbigniew Brzezinski.

3% of today's population might be able to pull off a revolution, but it would have to be a very specific 3%.

I don't know about that. This is the problem I think people have with percentages when they are small percentages. There are 1B Muslims in the world. I ask people what percentage do you think are radicalized, they say 1-2%, okay that's 20M, what if it's 10%, that's 100M people. Certainly a sizable number that could really cause problems for the western societies. But back to the US, the population is roughly 350M, 3% of the population is 10.5M people. I think all of the armed forces combined is only a bit over 500K people, that includes all the non combat support troops. So, I think you could do a lot of damage with 10.5M motivated people. However, I don't think there are anywhere near that many people in this country that would put their necks on the line, we still have it way to good.

EngelbertHumperdinck ago

Right, and most of those 350 million are complete idiots who have no idea what's happening to their country. There are probably not even 10 million people in the country who understand the situation we're facing well enough to even discuss it. And the number of them who possess skills that could make a difference is probably a tiny fraction of that.

10.5M could do a lot of damage, yes, but the US is damaged enough. We would need a very organized, motivated and highly skilled 3% to repair the damage that's been done.

I read the same about the 3%. Interesting times lay ahead.

A long time ago...

I think we are trapped more in a garbage compactor though. Wasn't this ceiling higher before...

RedLeader ago

Didn't I used to have anywhere I could go to be alone and feel like my thoughts were my own?

OcculusResurrectio ago

One things for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner!

squidicuz ago

I've got a bad feeling about this.
