Khazarian Mafia? Bhaal?
I was waiting to read that Gandalf did it.
Maybe I'm biased, but I just think it was that good old combination of evil, corruption, and rich men being above the law.

Sounds ridiculous until you realize world leaders do actually get together at the Bohemian Grove and sacrifice children (or "ephigies" ) to giant stone owl and there is video footage of it and multiple presidents of the usa have attended.

He isn't a human or much like a human in most ways.
However he is righteous and super fun. Excellent apparel, a beauty to behold - and driven to purpose.
Most of those who worship him aren't worthy to whisper his true names.
