The way I understand it, I do not produce serotonin at normal levels. Similar to how type 1 diabetes is caused by little to no insulin production my depression and other problems are due to the fact that very little serotonin is being produced. SSRI's allow me to use what little serotonin I do produce, more than once. So far its been fantastic aside from the screwy dreams but I've also stopped drinking constantly and self medicating in other ways, so that probably helps immensely.

They seem to be working fine for me. I can smile again which is nice. But the dreams are super fucked up.
