I grew up with this guy all over the TV. I'm sure most of us agreed he was a creep, but no-one ever said it - it's like there was some sort of spell cast over the nation.
I think I suppressed any revulsion because this guy could ACTUALLY GRANT WISHES. I sent several letters to Jim'll Fix It and was bitterly disappointed that I didn't get any wishes granted. Quite glad I didn't now.
It still boggles my mind that the establishment would rather let hundreds of children suffer than risk a scandal.
