After a Russian opposition member Nemtsov was killed, western media went into overdrive trying to smear Putin and paint Russia in a bad light - without any actual evidence:
BBC.com: 48 results https://www.google.com/search?q=site:bbc.com+intitle:nemtsov (9680 results if remove intitle)
Rferl.org: 112 results https://www.google.com/search?q=site:rferl.org+intitle:nemtsov (6710 results if remove intitle)
CNN.com 131 results https://www.google.com/search?q=site:cnn.com+intitle:nemtsov (1640 results if remove intitle)
I am using intitle search, this way the article is only about that person, they aren't just mentioned in passing.
What about the recent killings in Ukraine? Shouldn't we find hundreds of results about them too? Since unbiased media should report on both sides in this conflict.
-
Feb 26: Former Ukrainian presidents ally and opposition member
killed ~2 weeks after Nemtsov, so we should DEFINITELY see hundreds of results about him right? Oleksandr Peklushenko:
-
Apr 15: What about a former member of parliament, also opposition, Oleg Kalashnikov who was murdered:
-
Feb 24: Hmmm.. what about another opposition, former party of regions member, who commited a suspicious suicide and had a criminal case opened (deliberate murder), Stanislav Melnik:
-
Feb 28: And another suspicious suicide of a former party of regions opposition member who jumped out of a window, just a week after Melnik: Mikhail Chechetov:
-
Apr 16: Oles Buzina, a prominent opposition journalist is killed in Kiev:
-
Apr 16: Sergey Sukhobok, another pro Russian journalist killed in Kiev:
Western media articles that paint Russia in a bad light = 291
Western media articles that paint Ukraine in a bad light = 2
If we remove intitle and just count times the name was mentioned:
Western media articles that paint Russia in a bad light = 18,030
Western media articles that paint Ukraine in a bad light = 182
So please, tell me how fair and balanced is western media when they concentrate on bullshit to smear Russia and Putin, while avoiding obvious murders by the western sponsored Ukrainian government.

My 5 cents, if you want preservation to prove/look back on in the future, an http://archive.org link to the articles would be better as it's better preserved when people/entities are caught out on things. Mainstream media has been known to remove 'false' or 'misleading' articles from search engines completely, they simply adjust the robots.txt on their site for the article in question so it gets dropped from search listings before removing it altogether. I've seen it happen many times.
...usually done like above.

You are the product.
News media's customers are the conglomerate corporations that rely on a passive base of human resources buying their shit.
It is in the interest of the customer to divert and misdirect the attention of the human resources away from anything meaningful (corruption of congress via lobbying etc) and onto things the everyman thinks they can understand; the evil red/brown/sand menace.
Almost all news media is a willing or unwilling mouthpiece of the corporations that profit from a disinterested population and the resource drain that is 'military industrial complex'.
Go look into the deals the world bank are offering Ukraine in return for going towards the EU and away from Russia.
Corruption everywhere, from bottom to top.
I'm not saying anything the majority here don't already know.

Yes. Control the flow of information = control thought

They are not even remotely close to fair and balanced on any subject. Hardly any media is any more, and the ones that are, are small independents. So much so that the larger news corporations go to them for actual news stories to punctuate the propaganda.
Sadly you'll most likely be preaching to the choir here.

Certainly not new news to us, but it is proveable truth nonetheless. Post saved
