I have been a victim of this technology. My phone and PC were also taken over and I was gang-stalked as well. It lasted for a few months. Very scary. Im lucky I'm not dead or in prison. Research remote neural monitoring if you're interested.
It's very real and horrific. You're unbelievably lucky that it stopped. I'm at the five year mark and I don't know if it will ever end. I also consider myself lucky to have avoided death and prison, but I did get entangled in the psychiatric system. It doesn't matter how many legitimate sources you have on this tech, people don't want to entertain such a disturbing possibility.
EDIT- I have always been skeptical of gangstalking victims but I'm hearing it more and more in conjunction with legitimate testimonials concerning mind control. I will investigate it further.
The effects dwindled after about 3 months but I was still getting images beamed into my head. It sounds crazy, but I tripped on robotussin so I could get a better understanding of what I was going through, and it ended up completely curing me. The next day I was back to normal. Well, I wouldn't say completely normal. It took 1-2 years before I was completely normal and not paranoid. They WILL make you think you're a messiah or something, they WILL make you think it's aliens. When I finally realized what was going on, they still tried to make me believe aliens were responsible for what I was going though. I'll never forget it.. I went to the pool with my brother one day and right when I got there they beamed the most cliche alien type sound into my head and at that point I was so over it, I just rolled my eyes and continued to pretend to be normal around my brother. Before that I went to the beach one day and just started talking to people and I happen to run into this guy who claimed to have worked for the CIA and I told him what I was going through and he's the one that told me about remote neural monitoring. Do I believe he really worked for the CIA? I don't know, It doesn't matter, but this guy did help set me on the right path to figuring out what was going on with me. Fuck I should write a book.
With the CIA guy? He did briefly mention his "Satanic Bible" and I didn't want to go down that path so I didn't question him on it. But yeah that's another thing, they do make you believe it's satan that's fucking with you as well. It sure felt like satan.
Yeah, I get certain voices trying to sound friendly, advising me that other voices are Satan. Like I said on the site, it feels like an electronic possession. Sometimes they take control of my entire being and I say things like "Kill so-and-so" or "I'm Satan." Did you ever experience forced speech?
I was never politically active until this started. Now I'm trying to spread the word. My dad and his brother were fairly big anti-war activists in the 60s. May have something to do with it. I don't hear of many Republic targets.

I don't know. I was a mid-tier drug dealer, kind of politically active (I handed out pamphlets opposing Bush and was promoting Nobody for President), my dad and uncle were in left-wing anti-war organizations in the 60s. So the gov't wouldn't like me, exactly, but I never perceived myself as an actual threat or activist.

No I did not.. Thank god. 5 years is a long time. Are you still politically active? Maybe try the robotrip and see if that helps you at all.
