Totally deserved it. He was putting his hands in his jacket and was known to be armed and dangerous.

If there was sound we could tell. Personally, I think he died in an ambush, and again, he tried to keep his hands up and I never saw a gun.

I don't think I'll argue this point further knowing that there are gov shills here.

Good ol reddit tactic: Anybody who disagrees with your opinion is a shill.

I can't be sure if he was, or was not, going for a gun. But the video clearly shows it looks like he might have been.

I said there were shills here on Voat, not a particular poster.

And the video clearly shows he's dead with nothing in his hand.

I never said he had anything in his hand. But even a blind man would see that he was moving his hand in a motion towards something, even if it is just to the top of his jacket, it was an unnecessary thing for him to do.

Maybe he had nothing, but it wasn't a very smart thing to do while there are people pointing guns at him, people that are known to be trigger happy when the slightest irregular movements are made.

I am completely neutral with this situation and am only judging by the video the video, but if this guy was black, it would be a different story. I'm not saying blacks are shot more often because they're black (it's because they're statistically more likely to be involved with the police for violent crime ), but the reaction would be "he shouldn't have moved while the cops were pointing guns at him".

Don't be like reddit and let the facts and evidence stand in the way of your agenda.

Unless he was just shot. It wasn't a traffic stop, it was an ambush with a roadblock in place and agents in the trees.

So he was shot before he put his hands up?

Why wouldn't he go down?

And why would they even bother letting him put his hands up, when they could just have shot him without giving him a chance.

I hate police and government as much as anybody, but to me, this guy looked like he was trying to take something from his jacket.

I'm not saying it wasn't an ambush, it probably was, since he was wanted.

And had said this: Death over jail.

madmalloy ago

He wasn't wanted and he said he would die before going to jail, not that he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory or hurt anyone.

But there was a roadblock ahead. As Finicum neared the roadblock, made up of three trucks, he veered left, trying to get around them, but his truck lodged in a snowdrift. (The film shows Finicum nearly hitting an FBI agent.) Once again, police shouted commands to them. Finicum, 55, exited the car almost immediately, with his hands up, and started walking away from the officers. Then he reached for his pocket, at which point a Oregon trooper, from the trees away from the road, shot him.

β€œOn at least two occasions, Finicum reaches his right hand toward a pocket on the left inside portion of his jacket. He did have a loaded 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun in that pocket,” said Greg Bretzing, the FBI agent in charge of Oregon. Bretzing praised officers for not shooting earlier, when Finicum tried to barrel through.
