Interesting decision. The claim is that they wanted to tie it into the Cloverfield franchise, but why? Apparently the movie held up on its own before the tie-in anyway. The skeptic in me says that, since Iran can't be the boogeyman anymore (for whatever reason, that's just the way things appear to me) they wouldn't allow them to be the "villains."

Can't go spoiling a nuke deal that gives Iran fast access to nukes by showing what will happen to us once Iran gets nukes. That's not in the plan, friendo.
