Even though he could have easily turned around and said fuck it all in return for an extremely comfortable life, he didn't.

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of reddit, was working behind the scenes with the FBI and NSA. Alexis is all about monetizing Reddit and wouldn't surprise me if he helped get Aaron Swartz out of the way.
He would absolutely be working on something decentralized, but there isn't anything like that yet, and voat doesn't censor, even if the ability is there to be abused. I don't think that swartz would have been against jstor if they would have let people access the information without being associated with a college who pays them.
The guy is a legend for me. A truly inspirational individual. The possibility he was 'suicided' feeds the theory that certain others began to think he was perhaps becoming a little too inspirational.
