The best thing to do is usually watching the russian propaganda and the US propaganda, and then with triangulation you can pretty much figure out what is going on. And the more sources for a single news point you have, the more reliable.
Getting the news has become better and better over the years, but getting the real news is still just as hard as it was in the past.
