I had always assumed it was a "real" thing. Right after the paris event it seemed really strange that anon had gathered and deleted the twitter accounts of hundreds of isis users. Its not like there is some anon guild or something thats going to say hey thats not us. It also seems like they kind of pop and dont really do anything useful like taking down big corps or anything.

Problem with groups like this is that they factionalize and have copycats. While some core members did a few hacks, others were copycats. Others were 'helpers' who never met the core members, and yet others were just more lies and propaganda from the number one liar - The US Government.
