tl;dr: https://devuan.org/ is the reason Ian was killed. People are trying to get away from the NSA compromised systemd when it comes to managing and installing userspace programs.

Was Murdock involved with Devuan?
Devuan seems related to Dyne:Bolic which was Jaromil's baby.
