I lost respect for them when I saw this article about
Feminist Catharine MacKinnon said "All sex is rape."
which they categorized as "false".
Here are some quotes from published, peer reviewed, papers MacKinnon wrote under her own name:
Compare victims' reports of rape with women's reports of sex. They look a lot alike
and
the major distinction between intercourse (normal) and rape (abnormal) is that the normal happens so often that one cannot get anyone to see anything wrong with it.
and
Male sexuality is apparently activated by violence against women and expresses itself in violence against women to a significant extent.
So maybe she didn't actually utter the words "all sex is rape" but she basically said it. But it doesn't align with the "progressive" point of view, so let's claim it's "false".
Interesting that the strategy is not to denounce the messenger, but to deny the message. Why would you support MacKinnon unless you espoused the ideology? Is it just a fear of criticism? Or a hatred of admitting that the opposition has a point?
