There is tremendous financial incentive on the part of the mainstream media establishment in promoting Trump's candidacy in ways that upset the ruling class at the RNC and their donor network. The converse can be said of Sanders and the DNC as well. The more upset and frightened the donor class is—the more likely they are to contribute vast sums of money, which will be spent running political television ads during the primary season. The money spent on these ad buys will flow directly into the coffers of the many mainstream media outlets. Which should work out nicely for Trump's former recent employer (NBC) and the executive peer group at the major media conglomerates. Once the real campaign money starts to be spent, it's likely the "news" coverage will reflect the biggest ad buys in subtle and overt ways.
