Depending on how you define "mass shooting" the U.S. has had 121 from Aug. 1st 1966 til now, the total number of deaths from all these events is 794.
Here's an article with nice graphics to go along - 50 Years of Mass Shootings in America(WashPo)
Since January 1st until August 9th, 2015 the numbers of deaths at the hand of a police officer were already up to 1,083.
Here's another fancy page for that - Michael Brown Anniversary(Vice)
Catching up with the present. Since Jan. 1st of 2015 till Dec. 3rd, that toll is now 1,096.
All this contained in 1,087 separate events. I'm hoping that number is accurate, I counted each cell in the spread sheet below.
-Killed By Police
It only took 1 year for police to match, and then surpass the number of deaths caused by active shooters within the last 50.

Here's another source for you which lays it out a bit better as well: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database
You'll find many instances of these type of stories: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database#kylie-lindsey-892.
And a tonne of these type of stories as well: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database#richard-munroe-568
No effort is made to save suicidal people. They always end up shot dead by the police no matter what.
This must be my favorite case thus far: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database#michael-kocher-jr-5

Then the police would take it out on us...

Irrelevant comparison. The only way these numbers could be compared is if you did mass shootings vs mass shootings BY cops. If you want to use people shot by Cops you would just need to compare against people shot by anyone else.

How about I ask a question from this then, "If mass shootings and 'lack' of gun control is such a huge problem, why in the last single year alone were more civilians killed by cops than by active shooters over the last 50?"
Based on these numbers who do you think is more likely to kill you?

Once again, irrelevant comparison. You would have to include all homicides. When a cop shoots someone it's a homicide. When someone shoots their wife, it's a homicide. You're far more likely to be shot by someone else than a cop. (I do NOT support gun control and I'm terrified of cops. These comparisons are just pointless)

I say if you are armed during a crime you should be shot dead on the spot. The weapon implies that you were ready to kill or harm another person.
Reclaimer69 ago
That just makes you sound ignorant.
So, the people that claim to carry for self defense and protection if the time comes, you make that seems like an invalid position. Why do you think they want to carry weapons?

This isn't a Terentino movie.

Oh man I can't wait to hear the pro-gun nuts go crazy over this comment.

Only an idiot would think the numbers comparable. Cops shot mostly worthless criminals who deserved to die whereas criminals killed mostly innocent people.

Over 200 of the 1,000+ have been unarmed as well.. and those are only the one's we know about, many cases are being fabricated and the reports written with lies. FOIA requests have shined some light on how corrupt police really are; planting weapons, planting drugs, falsifying reports.. but no one's really wanting to talk about it.
