It will also give them more ground to take our rights away and spy on us. If we want the US constitution to last 500 years from now intact then we need to recognize that we need to not give ground dispite events like Paris will happen in the 100s between now and then. Paris is a small event historically speaking. We can't yield for such a frequent event. We have to address it with the tools we already have. We've had these sort of things happen before and they got the tools they wanted. Despite that things aren't going to be perfect so they don't get more each and every time.
If we don't want the constitution to last 500 years that understandable. If so then I say we roll it up now and revoke the powers it authorizes as well.
