For example; if instead of being treated as slaves, blacks were brought willingly to America, given all the same rights, opportunities etc as any other human, not treated as if they were inferior and so on; there wouldn't be such a huge stratification of the economical classes, each individual would've been able to achieve their full potential, the proportions of different races would be much more evenly distributed on each economic class. And since people would've been treated properly and given a way to be able to do well, the poorest wouldn't be as poor as they are today; and without the richer people seeing the poor as "the others", relations would be much better, with much less conflicts and much more opportunities for people to go up.
Remove othering and bigotry, and multiculturalism goes smoothly. Ironically, the problem isn't other people, it is people like you.

Does any of that ensures the only difference is race? There is a lot of factors that can affect your ability to score well academically; including stuff in your past , the way the test is designed, who rates the answers etc.
This bit on the Wikipedia article about the SAT mentions a variety of correlations; but keep in mind, correlation does not necessarily means causation. For example, if students are told by an authority figure that people with blue eyes are dumber, the students with blue eyes will have a harder time doing well on a test; this has nothing to do with eye color, they performed worse because of what the authority figure said, it's a known effect on human psychology.
